We now have a Kiva green pig to help remind us to share on our birthdays, anniversaries, or when we are feeling thankful for God's many gifts to us. What is Kiva? Well, Janet Murry (one of our 8:00 AM faithful) gave me a wonderful Christmas gift of $25 that I was able to invest in businesses all over the world.
I get regular reports from Kiva (see below) describing how the loan is being repaid.
Dear Father Bob Cornner,
The loan you have made to Maria Guillen De Julca has received a
repayment of $182.00.The total amount repaid is now $364.00.This
repayment will be divided amongst all the lenders who helped to fund
this business, depending upon the percentage each lender contributed.

Please note that these funds will not be credited to your Kiva account
until the loan is repaid in full or when the loan term is complete. At
that time, you will be able to withdraw these funds from Kiva or to
re-lend these funds to a new entrepreneur.
Best wishes,
- The Kiva Team
The great thing about Kiva is that once the gift is given it just keeps being given over and over again to other folks who are in need of a loan to help their business and to improve their lives and the lives of those whom they serve through their businesses.
Of course, there is always the chance that the loan may not get repaid, but so far the rate of such events is very small. As Episcopalians we are committed to the Millenium Development Goals established by the United Nations.
Kiva is one way we can help reduce abject poverty on our planet. Please remember to "feed the pig" whenever your sense of gratitude simply overwhelms you and the love of God moves you to give so that others may live.
God's Peace in Helping Hands,
Bob
